Producer licensing exam

P&C license exam prep: rule out the wrong answers first

A property and casualty license is issued by your state, and so is its exam: the state insurance department sets it, and Pearson VUE, PSI or Prometric delivers it. Every version shares a general block of P&C concepts. That block is what you practice here, with a note on every option.

One license title, a different exam in each state

There is no national P&C exam. Each state insurance department writes its content outline, picks the testing vendor and sets the pass mark, so the item count, the clock and the fee change at the state line. The outlines we checked agree on the general part: risk and the contract, the HO-3 and the personal auto policy, commercial property, general liability, workers compensation and the other commercial lines. The P&C study guide lays that shared part out by blueprint share.

On top of it, each of those states adds a law block of its own: licensing rules, notice periods, the state's auto requirements. Those items come from your state's candidate handbook, and the drills here leave them out on purpose.

A route through the site

  1. Take a mixed set

Start with the free P&C practice test. Each answer opens a verdict and a note on all four options, so a miss shows you which neighboring idea pulled you off.

  2. Go to the part that cost you

Every coverage part has its own page with the rules, the traps and a drill. Two of the largest are homeowners insurance and the personal auto policy.

  3. Sit the mock

When the misses thin out, the timed P&C mock exam holds back the notes until you submit, then scores you by coverage line.

  4. Check your state before you book

Read your state's numbers: question counts by state, the passing score and the steps to a P&C license.

Away from a desk

Carry the general block in your pocket: the app holds more items than these pages and explains the key to each one.
